
Yu-Meng Yang, born in 1999, is a Paris-based Chinese writer and director. Now she is taking her master program in 3iS-Paris (Institut international de l'image et du son).
Born in Guiyang, a city located in Southwesten China. Before starting filmmaking career, she gained a BA in Chinese Language and Literature in Minzu University of China (MUC) and finished her one-year filmmaking program in Prague (Prague Film School) before coming to France.
With an experimental, surrealistic, meta-cinematic, and darkly humorous style, she explores the real struggles and power dynamics in intimacy, the irony in power relations, and the ambiguity between joy and violence, sex and love, reality and fiction, emphasizing her understanding of subjectivity and the complexity.
Her recent short film project "Doll, Tie and Brush" is in post-production status.
